Did you know that this extract is as precious as gold to the eyes?

Lutein, also known as “eye gold”, is the most important nutrient in the human retina. High concentrations of lutein are found in the macular area (center of vision) of the retina of the eye and in the lens, especially in the macular area. Lutein is an important antioxidant and is a member of the carotenoid family, also known as “phytolutein”. It co-exists in nature with maize lutein. Scientific research shows that lutein is the only carotenoid found in the retina and lens of the eye. The element cannot be made by the body itself and must be taken from the outside. In the absence of this element, the eye goes blind. Ultraviolet and blue light from the sun entering the eye can produce large amounts of free radicals that can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration, and even cancer. Lutein can filter blue light and decompose strong light and ultraviolet light to human eyes, so as to avoid blue light damage to eyes and prevent vision degradation and blindness caused by lutein deficiency. Therefore, lutein is also known as the protector of eyes.

Main pigment components of the retina: Lutein and zeaxanthin constitute the main components of vegetable, fruit, flowers and other plant pigments, and are also the main pigments in the macular area of the human eye. The human eye contains high levels of lutein, an element that the body cannot produce and must be supplemented by ingestion. In the absence of this element, the eye would go blind.

Dark green vegetables and yellow fruits are important food sources for our lutein and zeaxanthin intake. Cooked kale contains 15.8 mg / 100g and cooked spinach 7.1 mg / 100g, the two most lutein vegetables. Also high in lutein are romaine lettuce, broccoli, corn, green peas, cabbage and egg yolks.

Even if supplementation does not restore vision that has been lost, it can help patients in the middle and early stages to maintain the remaining vision. Thus, a diet rich in tomatoes and dark green vegetables has a protective effect on vision for people of all ages.

So, what are the functions of Lutein?

1. Improve visual adaptability

Disability glare refers to the phenomenon of temporary loss of visual accuracy caused by uncontrolled light such as high intensity within the visual range. Glare is not only easy to cause eye fatigue, affect reading and learning, but also may cause traffic accidents.

In addition, Photostimulation Recovery is supposed to be expected to take a bit of time to restore normal vision after exposure to bright light, which can be caused by aging and eye cell changes.

Several studies found that supplementation with lutein and zeaxanthin (6 to 12 months, 12mg per day) significantly increased macularpigments (Macularpigments), in addition to improving the transient glare loss induced by strong light, and helping to reduce the time required for photostimulation recovery.

2. Prevention of cataracts

A cataract is an eye disease caused by changes in the lens of the eye (mainly proteins that concentrate light and image in the retina). The condition is characterized by blurred or overlapping vision.

Cataracts are mostly caused by diabetes and aging, and their incidence has skyrocketed in younger patients, mostly because of excessive use of cell phones.

So far, there are no effective drugs to prevent cataracts, so surgery can only be used to replace lenses if poor vision affects life.

A large Australian medical study of 2,322 adults aged 40 and over found that adequate lutein and zeaxanthin in the daily diet lowers the incidence of cataracts by 40%.In addition, other studies have shown that cataract prevention is 18 to 32 percent effective.

3. The incidence of late macular degeneration was reduced

Macular degeneration is one of the main factors leading to blindness in older people over 60, the main reason is macular degeneration due hidden knot, is due to macular light into the main point, also is the photoreceptor cells populated area note 4, in the event of lesions, it could create blurred vision, object distortion, center the symptom such as shadow, serious and even lead to blindness.

And macular lesions are divided into dry and wet two types, more serious and difficult to treat is wet (late macular degeneration), will form choroid new blood vessels. Due to the fragile structure of new blood vessels, bleeding and leakage are easy to cause macular cell necrosis, leading to vision degradation.

The national health research institutes (NationalInstitutesofHealth) from 2006 to 2012 for five consecutive years tracking macular disease four thousand 55-80 years old, is the largest ever conducted, most, longest, the most credibility test, called the AREDS – 2 (Age – RelatedEyeDiseaseStudy2) in the second stage age-related eye disease clinical research.

Report edible floraglo patent 10 mg lutein and zeaxanthin 2 mg AREDS group compared with control group 1 (the first stage age-related eye disease clinical research), can reduce 25% late macular degeneration (AdvancedAge – related macular degeneration) the development of the risk.

The study, published in JAMA(Journal of the American Medical Association), concluded that lutein plus zeaxanthin had a significant effect on the delay of vision loss due to age-related macular degeneration.

4. Enhance visual recognition

Modern 3C depends on degree tall, often cause eye early ageing, if appear the following phenomenon, the likelihood is typical vision ageing, if the field of vision becomes narrow, the response to visual information becomes slow, focal length is adjusted hard, ability of light adaptation becomes poor.

In a recent controlled study, lutein and zeaxanthin were found to increase visual processing skills (especially the ability to distinguish objects and light sources) by 20 percent, with significant benefits for driving safety, reading speed, motor performance, and cognitive performance.

Lutein is one of the plant extracts. Are you worried that you can’t find good Lutein? From today onwards, you don’t have to worry about that anymore.
